The Simi Valley Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization that works in support of the Simi Valley Public Library. The Friends are best known for their volunteerism, special programs, fundraising and their Friends of the Library Bookstore which is located inside the Library. Your contributions allow us to undertake projects the library would not otherwise be able to afford. Our organization is solely a volunteer operation with approximately 90% of our proceeds going to the library for the purchase of new materials, equipment and programs. None of the money is spent on library operating costs. All libraries need friends. Won’t you join us?

Since its founding, Simi Valley Friends of the Library has made significant contributions to the life and work of the Simi Valley Public Library. More than half a million dollars has been donated by the Friends for programs and materials in the last 10 years alone. Each year the Friends purchase books, equipment, audiovisual resources, and prizes for programs such as the Summer Reading Program. The Friends provide funding for special programs such as author visits to our local schools, concerts, and the family book festival. Friends’ sponsored programs are designed for every age group and interest throughout the city. Individual and community service organizations have supported the Friends throughout the years to help make the library services special. By volunteering our time, members of the Friends enable the library to offer services and materials not otherwise covered by normal funding. Every dollar we raise is used to support the library.
